Handling Large Files

Tell a size warning from an upload limit, and prepare a smaller, readable copy when needed.

The size indicator beside your documents measures the source files you added. It does not predict the size of the finished PDF or decide whether a filing system will accept it.

Warning or limit?

Below warning size, Near warning size, and At or above warning size are reminders. Changing the warning does not change what ExhibitPrep can process.

The processing limits are:

  • 50 MB per source file.
  • 100 MB of source files in one set.
  • 100 documents and 500 pages in one set.

Change your size warning

  1. Choose Size warning beside the document list.
  2. Choose one of the displayed sizes. Or enter Custom warning size (MB) and choose Save warning size. Custom values must be greater than 0 and no more than 500 MB.
  3. Check that the indicator shows your chosen warning size.

This is a reminder for your workflow, not a way to raise an upload limit. Check each finished file's size before filing.

If a file is too large to add

  1. Keep the original file.
  2. Make a smaller copy using your PDF or image application's optimization options. Preserve the pages and details you need; check that small text, photographs, and signatures remain readable.
  3. If the failed file appears in Upload review, choose Retry file and select the smaller copy. Otherwise, add the smaller copy through the upload area.
  4. Confirm that the correct document and page count appear, then review the stamped result.

Larger sets may need to be divided into smaller sets. Check the filing requirements and your purchase coverage before starting separate bundles.

If processing is slow or saving fails

Keep this workspace open. Close other applications or unrelated tabs to free memory, and wait for the current operation to finish before trying again. Document processing uses this device; purchase services still need a connection.

If a combined PDF or ZIP download fails, use Try the download again, or Download as individual files instead if offered. See download recovery before starting over.

Check the result: every intended document is included, the saved files open, and their text and images remain usable. A smaller file is not useful if important details are missing.
